Couched within layers of translucent kinwashi paper, Echo Reliquary contains images that elude complete perception, mirroring the inevitable distance that exists between perception and the real world. Pages filled with solid metal leaf provide anchors amidst the ephemera, reasserting the materiality of the book in the hands of the viewer, while the remaining pages contain only a dull glimpse or echo of the flowers, leaves, and branches depicted. With each image remaining stubbornly ungraspable, appearing as though it is always one page away, the viewer is left with only a relic of the whole.
