Joel Pasquarelli is a visual artist and scholar working in the intersection between theology, sociology, and the arts. He earned his Bachelor's of Fine Art in painting and drawing from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and his Master of Fine Art with a concentration in painting from Clemson University. His research focuses on the integration of theology and the arts, with particular interests in theories of disenchantment, new materialism and stewardship, and the relationship between visual/material culture and the sacred. He has presented his art historical and theological research both domestically and internationally and has exhibited his artwork in solo and group shows across the east coast. 

 

His current studio practice and research focus on the inner life of non-human things and the revelation found in attending to them as fellow members of society through creation and study. In particular, his work centers on the role of the non-human, and especially the material, within knowledge formation and sacred experience.
