To KNow is to Listen

Completed over the course of 9 weeks, this book traces the time and relationship involved in knowing another entity within the world. The book consists of 32 images of the same tree with each painting the result of a different day, creating a liturgy of returning to the tree in order to know it. On one side of the accordion fold, watercolor and copper leaf represents mornings spent attending to the color and light as it scattered across the tree, while the inverse side holds sumi ink and silver leaf representing evenings focused on its form and gesture.
